Gantlope was once my alter ego. In the early days of social media, and when I was keen to keep my professional identity separate from my creative identity, Gantlope was born.
Gantlope has invented games, written short stories and novels and, more recently, rediscovered photography. As I have retired from my day job (Professor of Pharmacology), it is time to bring Gantlope into the light as the power behind this website and merge the identities that were once separate.
I live in Bingley which is a town that is part of the magnificent Bradford District in West Yorkshire. I’ve been here since 2013. My photographic development started properly in 2016 when I joined Bingley Camera Club, a bunch of enthusiastic hobby photographers. The club members have a wide range of photographic interests and a technical knowledge of photography that cannot be surpassed. I have found the environment very conducive to my growth, with my fellow club members very encouraging and full of feedback. Camera clubs have an aspect which focus on competitions, and whilst my preferred style of photography is unlikely to win any prizes, the discipline of producing photographs to briefs and deadlines has been really helpful.
Anyhow. Now my photography has matured significantly, I’ve built this website and blog to curate things and share further. I hope you enjoy this blog, you can sign up for updates.
